A session on superconductivity and quantum materials. From Ray's invitation to Steve: “Superconductivity comes to mind because of its applications to quantum computers, the LHC, and energy issues generally. In the past couple of years, we have had three presentations on quantum physics — I did the early years (1895–1935); a mathematician did entanglement; and Robert Raussendorf, a UBC physics professor, did a presentation on quantum computers.” Steve, a physicist at Simon Fraser University, offered to speak on “superconductivity, or quantum materials more generally.”
