About the speaker

Nicolas Dea, MD, MSc, FRCSC, is a neurosurgeon specializing in complex spine surgery. After a fellowship with the Vancouver Spine Surgery Institute, he became Neurosurgery Program Director at the Université de Sherbrooke — where he was recognized as an outstanding professor and named Vice President of the Quebec neurosurgical association — before returning to Vancouver in 2017 to join the Vancouver Spine Surgery Institute. His clinical and research interest in spinal oncology has gained international attention: he is lead co-chair of research for the AO Knowledge Forum Tumor, an international multi-disciplinary panel pursuing innovative research into spine oncology, and sits on the executive board of the Canadian Spine Society. His presentation covered modern developments in back surgery, and his slide deck is preserved in the Science Plus archive.
